Abstract

The rapid development of telemedicine has significantly impacted various sectors, including maternal and child health services. In East Asia, where access to quality healthcare can be challenging in remote and rural areas, telemedicine has emerged as a vital tool for improving health outcomes. This paper explores the role of telemedicine in enhancing maternal and child health in East Asia. By analyzing the current landscape of telemedicine adoption, the paper highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with this technology. The findings indicate that telemedicine has the potential to bridge the gap in healthcare access, reduce maternal mortality rates, and improve child morbidity and mortality. Specifically, telemedicine allows for remote monitoring of patients, real-time consultations with specialists, and the provision of educational resources. Despite these benefits, challenges such as infrastructure limitations, literacy barriers, and the need for standardized protocols remain. The paper concludes by emphasizing the importance of continued investment in telemedicine infrastructure and policy development to maximize its potential in improving maternal and child health in East Asia.
